Builder and trade websites · New Zealand · $3,500 + GST

Website design for NZ builders and trades.

Before a homeowner rings a builder, they want three answers: does this person hold the right licence, have they built something like my job, and do they work in my area. OneAdsphere writes and builds six-page websites for New Zealand builders and tradies that settle all three questions and turn a visit into a quote request, with your LBP details worded the way the scheme allows. One fixed price, $3,500 + GST, with the copywriting included.

Our work

What we have built, and where.

One New Zealand site from the building world, and three builder sites across the Tasman. We designed, built and deployed every one, and each is live today.

Westcott Developments

Our New Zealand work closest to building is for Westcott, an Auckland developer of new homes. The site is organised the way a buyer thinks about a home they cannot walk through yet.

  • Every development has its own page, so one project can be sent to a buyer on its own
  • Completed projects are listed up front, as the track record behind the next release
  • Homes for sale, Home and Land packages and a buyers’ resources section each have their own place
  • The enquiry form asks which suburb the buyer is interested in

Builder websites we have built, all in Australia

We have not built a website for a New Zealand building company yet. The builder sites in our portfolio belong to three Australian firms, and each is live now: open one on your phone, the way a homeowner would.

More of our sites are on the website design page, and developers can see the full property development marketing programme.

LBP rules

Your LBP licence on your website, done properly.

Under the Licensed Building Practitioners scheme only licensed people may carry out or supervise restricted building work, and its rules shape how a builder can describe the business online. Here is what the scheme’s own pages say.

Restricted building work

Work on the primary structure or the external moisture management of a house of any height, or of a small to medium apartment building under 10 metres, is restricted building work, and so is designing fire safety systems for multi-unit buildings. It must be carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner licensed for that kind of work.

Name the classes you hold

LBP licences come in seven classes: Design, Site, Carpentry, Roofing, External Plastering, Brick and Blocklaying, and Foundations. A Site LBP cannot supervise or sign off restricted building work, so your site names the exact classes your people hold and nothing broader.

People are licensed, companies are not

The scheme licenses individuals. A company must not promote itself as licensed, though it may advertise that it engages LBPs. So the copy names the licensed people on your team and their classes, rather than calling the business “a licensed builder”.

The LBP logo comes with a sentence

Under the logo’s terms of use, a website showing it must also carry the line “Always check the LBP Register to ensure your building practitioner is Licensed”. A company uses it only if it is listed on the LBP’s register record, adding “We regularly engage LBPs”. The logo comes down if the licence is suspended or cancelled.

Never claim more than the licence

Under the Building Act 2004 an LBP can be disciplined for holding out as licensed for work they are not licensed for, or for misrepresenting their competence. Each service page on your site stays inside the work your people are licensed and competent to do.

Plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers

Registered plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers, registered architects and chartered professional engineers are treated as though they are licensed for certain restricted building work, but they cannot use the LBP logo. Their sites show the registration they actually hold.

Read on lbp.govt.nz on 26 October 2026: restricted building work, licence classes, use of the LBP logo and its terms of use, and the grounds for discipline. Anyone can confirm a licence on the public LBP register. General guidance only, not legal advice; the scheme’s own pages are the final word.

Fair Trading Act

Claims on a builder’s site have to stand up.

A homeowner may commit a large sum partly on the strength of what your website says. The Commerce Commission treats a website like any other advertising, so these four habits are built into every page we write.

A website is advertising

The Commerce Commission says the Fair Trading Act applies to advertising in all its forms, online included, and to the overall impression given, including by what is left out. Timeframes, “from” prices and photos all have to stand up.

Trade body badges only while current

Show a trade association membership only while it is approved and current. The Commission’s own example is a building firm that kept claiming Registered Master Builders membership after it was suspended; its directors were convicted, fined and ordered to pay reparation.

Reviews are real or not at all

Reviews must be genuine and must not mislead about what the reviewer meant. Staff posting positive reviews without disclosing they worked there was part of the conduct behind a $1.104 million penalty in August 2026, and the Commission’s release also describes low-star reviews being held back.

Your photos, labelled renders

Galleries use photos of your own finished work. A render or a stock image, if one is ever needed, is labelled so nobody mistakes it for a job you built.

Sources, read 26 October 2026: the Commerce Commission on your obligations as a business, claiming to be something you are not and online reviews, and its 11 August 2026 release. General guidance only, not legal advice.

What goes on it

Six things every NZ builder website needs.

A homeowner shortlisting builders checks the licence, looks for jobs like theirs and confirms you cover their area. These six parts settle those questions and make ringing you the obvious next step.

LBP details a homeowner can check

The licensed person’s name, LBP number and classes, with a link to the public LBP register so anyone can confirm them in a minute.

A gallery for each project

Every job with its suburb, what was built and your own photos. A new build in Pukekohe reads very differently from a bathroom in Grey Lynn.

The areas you cover, named

From Auckland suburbs to whole regions like Waikato or the Bay of Plenty, listed in the copy and matched by the service areas on your Google Business Profile.

One tap to ring you

A call button on every page, ready for a homeowner browsing on their phone.

A quote form that qualifies

It asks for the kind of job, the suburb, a budget range and when they want to start, so you know a new build from a leaking tap before you call back.

Your name on the domain

The .co.nz and the hosting are registered to you, and you get a walkthrough at handover. Change web company one day and the site leaves with you.

Local search

Found by homeowners searching in their own suburb.

Builders and tradies mostly work close to home. That puts weight on your map listing, on the suburb people type, and on what an AI assistant says when asked who to call. No one can promise a top spot or a mention, so we do not. Our job is to give Google and AI assistants facts about your business that are clear and identical everywhere.

How a builder might use the six pages:

  • Home
  • About and licences
  • Services
  • Projects
  • Areas we cover
  • Get a quote
  • A Google Business Profile set up for a business that travels to its customers. Google’s help says to take your address off if customers never visit it, then add service areas: up to 20 towns, postcodes or areas, no radius, and within roughly two hours’ drive from your base. Your website lists the same places.
  • Separate pages for the work you want more of, such as new builds, extensions, decks, reroofs or bathrooms, in the words homeowners type.
  • Schema markup describing your business, trade, services and areas, plus an llms.txt file, so AI assistants can read who you are, what you build and where.
  • Analytics and Search Console running from day one, so you can see the suburbs and job types people find you for.

Google’s service-area rules are from its help article Manage your service areas, read 26 October 2026. For ongoing local search, see SEO and AI search.

After launch

Turning calls and clicks into booked quotes.

The site does its part by producing calls and quote requests. The rest depends on someone picking up, and on enough of the right homeowners finding you.

Calls you cannot take

Up a ladder when the phone goes? Our AI receptionist picks up 24/7, on your current number through call forwarding or on a new New Zealand number, notes what the job is and puts the quote visit in your calendar. Plans from $297 a month in NZ dollars, setup included.

Google Ads with intent

Google Ads aimed at searches that signal a real job, for example a job type and a suburb, in an ad account registered to you.

Ads on Facebook and Instagram

Meta ads putting your finished builds in front of homeowners where you work, linking to your galleries or to a quote form.

Pricing

Builders and tradies get the same six-page build as everyone else, with LBP wording done right, galleries made from your photos, copy written for you and every account in your name. $3,500 + GST, or $4,025 with GST.

Questions

Builder and tradie questions, answered.

From licence wording to missed calls. If your question is not here, bring it to the call.

What does a builder website cost?

It costs $3,500 + GST, the price of every six-page site we make, or $4,025 once GST is added. The copywriting is included. Extra pages, online payments and member logins are priced separately.

Why put my LBP number on my website?

Because anyone can confirm a licence on the public LBP register, and a number turns that into a one-minute check. If the LBP logo appears on the site, its terms of use require the line “Always check the LBP Register to ensure your building practitioner is Licensed” with it, and a company using it adds that it regularly engages LBPs.

Can my company say it is licensed?

No. LBP licensing is for individuals, and the scheme says a company must not promote itself as licensed. It may say it engages LBPs, and your site can name the licensed people on your team and the classes they hold.

I am a plumber, electrician or another trade. Is this for me?

Yes, every trade gets the same six-page build. Registered plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers are treated as though they are licensed for certain restricted building work but cannot use the LBP logo, so we show the registration you actually hold. Whatever the trade, the site claims only the work you are licensed and competent to do.

Will you use photos from my past jobs?

Yes, please. Photos of your own finished work sell better than anything we could write. Photography is not in the price, so we build galleries from the photos you have, and any render or stock image is clearly labelled.

I work from home. Does my address have to show on Google?

It does not have to. When customers never visit your address, Google’s own help tells you to take it off your Business Profile and enter service areas, up to 20 of them. We then write the same towns and suburbs into your site.

Can I put customer reviews on my site?

Genuine ones, yes. The Commerce Commission’s guidance is that reviews must be genuine and presented so they do not mislead about what the reviewer meant, and staff posting reviews without disclosing they worked there was part of the conduct behind a court penalty in 2026.

What happens to calls I miss on the tools?

A website can collect an enquiry but it cannot pick up the phone. For missed calls, our AI receptionist answers around the clock, takes down the job and books the quote visit. Plans from $297 a month in NZ dollars, setup included.

Have you built websites for New Zealand builders?

Not yet. Our builder websites so far are Australian: Sexton Builders (Brisbane), Newton Manor (Melbourne) and Roscon Co. (Orange, NSW). Here in New Zealand, the closest is our site for Westcott Developments, a property developer in Auckland.

How long does a builder website take?

10 to 15 business days from receiving your content. Content here means your logo, LBP details, photos of finished jobs and a few basics. We draft every page, you get two rounds of changes, and then it launches on your .co.nz.

Who owns the website?

You do. The domain and hosting are set up in your name, so the site is your asset, not something rented back to you.

Who is OneAdsphere?
